David Michael “Mike” Bruner, 72, of Jonesboro passed away on July 27, 2020, at NEA Baptist Hospital. Mike was born in Harrison, Arkansas, on November 2, 1947. He was preceded in death by his parents Reverend Glenn and Edna Bruner; two brothers, Bill Bruner and Eldwin J. Bruner.
Mike worked in the agriculture-chemical and seed industry for 20 years in Missouri and Tennessee before moving back to Jonesboro in 1996 when he and Lynn married. Prior to retirement, Mike managed a local overhead door company. Mike was a faithful member of First United Methodist Church.
Mike faced every obstacle cancer hurled his way and although he had cancer, it did not have him. He was aware that out of suffering and pain, the strongest souls emerge and the depths of his faith in God embraced him and provided comfort during this difficult battle. Mike will be remembered as a friend whose humble demeanor spoke volumes.
He is survived by his spouse of twenty-four years, Lynn Delaney Bruner of the home; son and daughter-in-law Drs. Rush and Stacy Simpson; granddaughters, Leah and Zoe all of Little Rock; brother-in-law Dr. Rick (Marcia) Delaney of Ormond Beach, Florida; sister, Nell (Aaron) Barling of Fort Smith, Arkansas and three special nephews, Phil (Louise) Barling of Fort Smith; Paul (Kimiko) Barling of Dallas; Scott (Nancy) Bruner of Portageville, Missouri;many cousins and great nieces and nephews; two special fur family members, Corgis Strat and Rosie.
Due to the COVID-19 crisis the family will only have a graveside service at 11:00 AM, Friday, July 31, 2020 at Jonesboro Memorial Park with Reverend John Miles officiating and Emerson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Serving as pallbearers will be LeMon Baker, Phil Barling, Paul Barling, James Copeland, Mitch Hovis, and Fred Haustein. Honorary pallbearers are Dr. Steve Woodruff and Dr. Allen Nixon. Masks will be required and social distancing guidelines will be followed. There will be no public visitation.
