David Matthew May

January 24, 1986 — June 23, 2022

David Matthew “Matt” May, 36, of Forrest City, AR, passed from his earthly home to his Heavenly home on June 23, 2022.  Matt was born January 24, 1986, in West Memphis, AR.  He is survived by his loved and adored daughter Kori Austin May, his mother and stepfather Sandy Taylor Pope and John Pope of Forrest City AR, his father David May of Hot Springs, AR, his sister Anna May of Proctor AR, his aunt Amy May Israelson and aunt Liz May Flake, his grandmother Helen Taylor, uncle & aunt Bobby and Bobbie Ann Taylor of Marion, AR.

Matt spent most of his childhood in Marion with his proud and loving grandparents Bob and Helen Taylor. He was a member of Marion Baptist Church. He attended Marion Schools and later became a certified welder and diesel mechanic. Growing up he loved the life of the Bob Taylor Farm and Trucking business, owned and operated by his grandfather Bob Taylor and his uncle Bobby Taylor.  While growing up in Marion, he enjoyed hours of fun riding four wheelers on the farm, biking and skate boarding all around his neighborhood and town with his best buds.  He spent much of his free time fishing and hunting; he was a true outdoorsman.  He loved singing, a talent inherited from both Taylor grandparents.  Matt was a self-taught guitarist and took his guitar where ever he traveled.  As a young man he enjoyed grilling, karaoke, playing his guitar and singing.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather Robert A. “Bob” Taylor of Marion, AR, his grandmother Mary Lynn Mosby of West Memphis, AR and his grandfather Johnny May of Horseshoe Lake, AR.

Friends and family are welcome to a Celebration of Life Service September 11, 2022, from 4 to 5pm at Rusty Nails Cowboy Church in Forrest City, AR, where Matt was a member and enjoyed fellowship and worship. Casual Dress is acceptable.
