David Eugene Lee

David Eugene Lee, 70, of Jonesboro, passed from this life on Friday, February 18, 2022. David was born in Jackson, MS on October 13, 1951 to the late Louise and Hershel Lee. In addition to his parents, David is preceded in death by his brothers, Steven Douglas Lee and Kevin Christopher Lee; and sister, Nancy Darlene Lee.

David was a resident of Jonesboro for many years. Markedly devout in his faith, David’s calling in life was to study the word of God. As a pastor, he was called to serve many congregations, but he was most recently the pastor of Sovereign Grace Missionary Baptist Church. David was proud of his Southern heritage. He could trace his lineage back to Robert E. Lee, and he was a Chaplin for the Son’s of Confederate Veterans. Most importantly, David loved his family. He was a proud parent and a loving husband.

David is survived by his wife of 48 years, Marilyn Lee of the home; sons, Kevin Christopher Lee (Shannon) of Harrisburg, Benjamin David Lee (Shannon) of Mesa, AZ, Harlon Jacob Lee (Stephanie) of Seaford, VA, and Clayton Tremain Lee of Jonesboro; daughter, Rebecca Louise James (Phillip) of D’lo, MS; brother, James Oscar Lee II (Lisa) of Platte City, MO; honorary brother, Dale Cohen (Jealene) of Mountain View; sisters, Lynda Johnson (David) of Conway and Patti Smith (Michael) of Oxford, MS; 9 grandsons and 8 granddaughters; and 4 great-granddaughters.

A funeral service will be held 2:00 pm Monday, February 21, 2022 at Emerson Funeral Home. A visitation will precede the service from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm. Burial will follow the service at Macedonia Cemetery.
