David Kimmel Jr, 45, passed into the arms of his Lord, Friday, April 17, 2020. He died of natural causes. He was born and raised in Jonesboro, moved to Nashville, Tennessee then to Memphis and eventually back home to Jonesboro about 3 years ago. David was a member of Walnut Street Baptist Church.
David is survived by the loving mother of his children, Hardin Barton Kimmel, and the biggest loves of his life, his son Coleman Kimmel and his daughter Garner Kimmel, all of Memphis. His father, David Kimmel Sr and Connie, and his mother and stepfather, Brenda and Mike Mitchell, all of Jonesboro. He is also survived by his sister, Laurie Kimmel McDaniel and brother, Slade Mitchell of Jonesboro and brother, Eric Mitchell of Brentwood, Tennessee and a special aunt and uncle, Reba and Roy Sherman of Jonesboro.
David was preceded in death by a son, Baby Boy Kimmel, his paternal grandparents, Bruce and Jerry Kimmel and his maternal grandparents, Darrell and Hazel Stone.
David was well known for his quick wit and his love of music. He started his own business as early as high school and built it into a very successful DJ and entertainment booking business, Mid-South Entertainment. Several years ago, he fulfilled his love of law enforcement by proudly serving as a reserve office with the Jonesboro Police Department.
He was a 1992 honor graduate of Jonesboro High School where he was student body vice president and involved with athletics, drama club and other volunteer organizations and was selected as Most Talented by his classmates. David was a graduate of Arkansas State University and was a proud member of Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity.
Due to the current risks associated with the COVID 19 virus, a private graveside service will be held.
