He was a man of faith and attended Carter’s Temple Church, where he was a member of the Methodist community.
He was preceded in death by his parents, David Lee Johnson and Charlie Mae Gray and two sisters, Willie Ann Rucker and Stella Mitchell.
David is survived by his loving wife, Delaine LaGrone Johnson, of the home; three sons, Daniel Johnson, David Johnson Jr and Chouncy Jackson.; three daughters, Stephanie Johnson, Nene Johnson, and Meagan Johnson; and one stepdaughter, Latashia LaGrone. He is also survived by his brothers, Harry Lee Johnson, LC Johnson, George Ray Mitchell (wife Joanne), and Willie Lee Mitchell; and his sisters, Lois Mitchell and Mary Roberson. He leaves behind a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and extended family who will deeply miss him.
