David Edward Hines

January 17, 1980 — July 16, 2023

David Edward Hines, age 43, of Jonesboro, passed away on July 16, 2023. He was born on January 17, 1980, in Tipton, Indiana, to Robert Hines [Melbourne, AR] and Shari King [Blytheville, AR]. David was a devoted husband, a loving father, and a cherished member of his community.

David is survived by his beloved wife, Stephanie Hines, with whom he shared eight wonderful years of marriage. He leaves behind four adoring daughters: Lauren Hines [Gosnell, AR]; Ella Kate Harris [Jonesboro, AR]; Emery Harris [Jonesboro, AR]; and Emily Hines [Jonesboro, AR]. His devotion to his family was unwavering, and they meant the world to him. He is also survived by his caring parents, Robert Hines and Shari King, as well as his three brothers: Nick Hines [Evansville, IN] John (Norma) Hines [Blytheville, AR], and James (Donna) Hines [Kaufman, TX]. David was also blessed with seven loving sisters: Janet (Todd) Pierson [Charlotte, AR], Jesse Hines [Oxford, AR], Sarah Wilson [Blytheville, AR], Mary Petrous [Blytheville, AR], Savannah (Jake) Burns [Gosnell, AR], Jennifer Hardesty [Blytheville, AR], and Katie Scatigna [Blytheville, AR]. He had a large, extended family with numerous nieces and nephews who held a SPECIAL place in his heart. He is also survived by his grandmothers; Bea Smith [Monticello, IN] and Loretta Slayton [Cicero, IN]. David's three dogs: Nelly, Nora, and Mr. Bean were more than pets. They were loyal companions who brought him joy and comfort throughout his life. Not to mention, they were so loyal that Mr. Bean vouched to clean up the leftovers stuck in his beard. Nelly thoroughly enjoyed keeping his feet intact so he never had to endure the dreaded pedicure date. Together, the three provided him with an affection that put “man’s best friend” in the definition of Dog.

He was preceded in death by his dear brother, Michael Jacob Hines, and his beloved nephew, Jacob Hines. He also mourned the loss of his stepdad, Rickey King, and his step-mom, Loretta Hines. Both were such an important part of his life.

David served his country in Iraq as an Army Specialist. His compassion for those in service was held dear to his heart. David was an active member of the VFW in Blytheville, Post 7057, where he formed lifelong friendships with fellow veterans. David was also a devoted brother of Christ and a member of Central Baptist Church in Jonesboro, Arkansas. Among his passions, David had an avid love for Star Wars. Whether it was assembling his Star Wars Lego Set or simply engaging in conversation about the series, David had a love for ALL things Star Wars. David shared a love for movie marathons but in all seriousness gaming with his *air quote* BROS on XBOX was his dearest hobby. He found great pleasure in listening to audiobooks, going on movie dates with his wife, and lighting up the room with his ever-so-bright and lovable personality.

Most importantly, though, his greatest joy came from spending quality time with his family and friends, especially his cherished daughters, who brought immense happiness to his life. The love he shared radiated in unmatched sincerity and will continue in his spiritual presence.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at the upcoming memorial services. Visitation will be held on Friday, July 21, 2023, at Emerson Memorial Chapel, starting at 1:00 p.m. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. Here we will gather to celebrate the remarkable and unforgettable life of David Edward Hines. Burial will be private.
