David Randall Emerson, 66, of Jonesboro, passed away on October 19, 2023 at his home from ALS. He was surrounded by his loving wife, Carrie Renee, and their two puppies, Coco and Louie.
David was born on October 8, 1957 to Floyd Alvin and Martha Betty Emerson. He was a lifelong resident of Jonesboro and graduated from Jonesboro High School in 1976. After graduation, David worked with his father at Emerson Upholstery until his father’s death, at which time, David took over the business and ran it until his diagnosis in December 2022.
On February 13, 2013, David married the love of his life, Carrie Renee. Although they found each other late in life, they shared many happy years together. Bowling was David’s passion in life. He had been on the lanes since junior high school and maintained a 200+ average for more than 30 years. He had bowled many perfect 300 games and several 800 series throughout his lifetime. It was only appropriate that his last 300 perfect game was at HiJinx using two different balls – one for each lane during the USBC State Tournament.
Another of David’s passions was bass fishing. He was a member of the Craighead Bass Association from 1984 to 2013 and served as president and secretary for a number of years. While in the Catch and Release Club, David caught the biggest bass at 8 pounds.
In addition to his parents, David is preceded in death by his sister, Virginia Emerson; grandparents, Maxie and Nora Emerson, and Stacey and Eunice Baswell; and his first wife, Catherine Puckett Emerson.
David is survived by his wife, Carrie Renee Emerson of Jonesboro; son, Rodney (Clarissa) Cline of Bono; grandson, Ethan Cline of Bono; cousins, Glenna Mathes of Jonesboro, Vickie Baswell Massengill of Florida, Howard Baswell of Hardy, Ramona (Richard) Gordon of Kansas, Charles Emerson of Jonesboro, and Randy Emerson of Jonesboro; and his beloved dogs, Coco and Louie.
