Darrell Stone was born December 19, 1918, in Couch, Missouri. He was a retired car dealer and had resided in Jonesboro for 68 years. He was a member of Walnut Street Baptist Church.
Mr. Stone died peacefully Monday morning, December 18, 2006, at his home.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Ora Stone; one brother, R.A. Stone; and three sisters, Beatrice Ollis, Glenda Cliff, and Lucille Bruner.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Hazel Stone of the home; two daughters and sons-in-law, Brenda and Michael Mitchell and Reba and Roy Sherman all of Jonesboro; four grandchildren, David Kimmel Jr., of Nashville, Tennessee, Jennifer Sherman Kestner of Fayetteville, Arkansas, Eric Mitchell of Clearwater, Florida, and Slade Mitchell of Jonesboro; one sister, Sylvia Moore of Jonesboro; six great grandchildren and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Darrell owned and operated Stone’s Used Cars for thirty five years. He also owned and operated Stone’s Mobile Home Sales and was co-owner of S & S Glass Service. He loved fishing, hunting, antique car shows and camping. He was a member of Northeast Arkansas Good Sam Camping Club and enjoyed a host of friends.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at Emerson Memorial Chapel with Dr. Glen Putman and Curtis Shatley officiating. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Nephews- Junior Cliff, Ronnie Cliff, Jim Cliff, Donnie Ollis, Randy Stone, and Rickey Bruner.
Honorary pallbearers will be Great Nephews, Don Davis, Doyle Gilliam, Alton Holmes, Charles Metzler, Larry Lewis, and Mike Sherman.
Visitation will be from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Emerson Funeral Home of Jonesboro
