Darrell Berry, 84, of Bono passed from this life on Sunday, December 25, 2016. He was born, raised, and spent his entire life in and around Bono. Darrell loved to play baseball and in his later years he enjoyed playing softball. He was a member of Washington Avenue Church of Christ and retired from Jones Truck Line. Darrell loved gardening, hunting, fishing, and shooting pool. He loved his family and was always making his kids and grandkids laugh. He and his wife Dorothy enjoyed going camping in their early years. Darrell is preceded in death by his parents, Harvey and Mamie Berry; wife, Dorothy “Tuff” Berry; brothers, Dwayne Berry and Don Berry; sister, Nina Oden; and son in law, Don Coggin.
Darrell is survived by his daughters, Deborah Coggin of Bay, Dana Martin (Rob) of Jonesboro, and Kaye Dorton (Rickie) of Bono; sister, Joan Richey (Jerry) of Bono. Darrell also leaves behind 4 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren , as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, December 30, 2016 at Emerson Funeral Home with Kenneth Gossett officiating. Burial will follow at Trinity Cemetery with the active pallbearers being Heath Richey, Shane Richey, Gary Oden, Gerald George, Kevin Oden, Ray Berry, Robert Martin, Rickie Dorton, Gabriel Dorton, Jerrel Brown, and Daniel Thomas. The honorary pallbearers will be Jerry Richey, Hershel Caples, Cecil Wilkerson, Gene Mitchell, Bill Willard, Dr. Joe Hughes, and Dan Merrit.
The visitation will be prior to the service from 12:30-2:00 at Emerson Funeral Home on Friday. In consideration of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 225 N.
