Dale Edward Williams, 77, returned to his heavenly home on March 26, 2016. His devotion to his family and his firm belief in God supported him in his struggle and ultimately gave him peace.
Dale was born to the late Edd and Evelyn Williams. He was immersed in the Christian community that became to be his support and was baptized at The Rock. He graduated from Nettleton High School in 1956.
Dale was blessed with a large and loving family. He married his best friend, Peggy Arlene Phillips in Jonesboro, Arkansas. They have been happily married for 58 years. Dale helped raise his four children with patience, discipline and humility. He dedicated his life to God and encouraged his family to explore the beauty of the gospels. He also loved fishing with his wife and family, sitting on the swings and talking to his great-grand dogs River, Max, Phoenix, and Zoey, and waiting on his great-grand daughters to get home off the school bus to give them treats and talk in the yard.
He took pride in working in the community through driving a bus for Lake City schools, running a grocery store by Nettleton schools, owning and operating Full Swing batting cages with his family, and retiring from Wonder Bread.
Dale was a Christian at heart who never met a stranger. He was kind and always had time to answer a question or solve a problem, no matter how small. He is dearly missed by his loved ones, who celebrate the fact that he is at peace with his creator. He loved 2 Corinthians 4:17-18: For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.
Dale is survived by his wife, Peggy; his sons Dale Williams (Carolyn) and Jerry Williams (Kelly); his daughters Sandra Martin (Billy) and Phyllis Davis; his grandchildren Jennifer Cooksey (David), Christy Wall, Brandi Mullins (Rodney), Jason Martin (Lauren), Josh Martin, Dustin Williams (Mary) and Zach Williams (Cydni); his brother, Billy Williams (Janis), and sister Geraldine Little; his great-grandchildren, Hannah, Kayla, Jenna, Samantha, Hayden, Ayden, Cameron, Kylie, Bailey, Martha Claire, Shelby, and Olivia.
He is preceded in death by his parents Mr. and Mrs. Edd Williams ; his brothers, Robert Williams and Willford "Bill" Williams; and his sisters, Louise Arra, Gwen Gibson, and Carlisle Foy.
