Cynthia J Hughes

Cynthia J. Hughes, 76, of Trumann, Arkansas, passed away Thursday, March 12, 2026, at NEA Baptist Memorial Hospital in Jonesboro.

She was born October 3, 1949, to the late Melvin Hughes Sr. and Lillie Mae Clay. Cynthia was a hardworking woman who dedicated many years of service as an assembly line worker for General Electric, where she worked for 14 years. She later worked for Absolute Business Management for five years and also spent time working at Channel 12 News in Flint, Michigan.

Cynthia was a member of St. John Baptist Church. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. In her free time, she loved playing cards, dancing, listening to gospel, R&B, and blues music, and working crossword puzzle books.

She is survived by two daughters, Pamela Hughes and Kreshunda Williams, both of Trumann; three sisters, Rita A. Seabron (Johnny D. Seabron), Charlotte Spears, and Annette Hughes-Hairston; five grandchildren, Darius Gilbert, Crystal Gilbert, Corry Gilbert Jr. (Tiffany Elliot), Porsha Gilbert (Harvey Hughes Sr.), and Maliek Gilbert Sr. (Kathy Walker); and nineteen great-grandchildren, Armani Gilbert, Jakayla Gilbert, Jeremiah Gilbert, Amelia Gilbert, Amir Gilbert, Maliek Gilbert Jr., Ja'Khori Gilbert, Ja'Kolbi Gilbert, Myla Gilbert, Ja'nyia Burrows, Makiya Woodall, Harvey Hughes Jr., Kira Hughes, Jayden Hughes, Jamrion Gilbert, Ja'veon Hughes, Ka'veon Hughes, Markeiya Hughes, and Ka'brayla Hughes. She also leaves behind several nieces, nephews, classmates, and friends of Booker T. Washington School, Class of 1966, who will cherish her memory.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, two sisters, one aunt, and one uncle.

A memorial gathering will be held at a later date. Service details will be announced once finalized.
