Cynthia “Cindy” Jo Dale Gibson, 64, of Jonesboro, passed away peacefully on August 19, 2024, surrounded by family and friends. She leaves behind a legacy of love and steadfast dedication to her family and community. Born on October 5, 1959, in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, Cindy was the cherished daughter of Warren Hylton Dale and Sarah Erlene Daughdrill Dale, both of whom have preceded her in death.

Cindy graduated from Hattiesburg High School in 1977 and went on to earn her degree from the University of Southern Mississippi in December of 1980. Shortly thereafter, on January 10, 1981, Cindy married Ken Gibson of Jonesboro. Together they shared 43 remarkable years of marriage, filled with joy, laughter, music, and a spirit of adventure.

Her professional career began at Merrill Lynch, where she dedicated 14 years of service. She later joined her husband, Ken, at Gibson’s Pharmacy, where she continued to support her community until her retirement in 2010. Her colleagues and customers alike remember her as a warm and dependable presence, always willing to go the extra mile for those in need.

Cindy's zest for life was evident in her many passions. She was an avid traveler, with a special fondness for the British Virgin Islands where she learned to sail. She took breathtaking train trips through the Canadian Rockies, and embarked on excursions across the United States, from Venice Beach, California, all the way to Bar Harbor, Maine. Her love for music, art, nature, and spontaneous adventures with friends added color and vibrancy to her life. Those who knew her well can attest to her exceptional gift of hospitality, with which she created a welcoming atmosphere for all with a generous and joyful heart.

Cindy cherished her church family and friends at the First Baptist Church of Jonesboro. She enjoyed the teachings of Richard Lusby in Sunday School class, and lived her faith through service to others. She was deeply involved in fundraising for Friends of the Library and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, always striving to make a positive difference in the lives of those around her.

In her retirement, Cindy discovered new passions in The Villages, Florida, where she excelled at watercolor painting, yoga, and mahjong. Yet, nothing brought her greater joy than her role as "JoJo," the precious nickname given to Cindy by her grandson, Lawson. Her children and grandchild were the true loves of her life, and she devoted herself fully to the unity and longevity of her family.

Cindy is survived by her loving husband, Ken Gibson of Jonesboro; her daughter, Lauren (Chris) Starnes of Jonesboro; her son Lee (Katherine) Gibson of Benton, and her grandson Lawson Starnes of Jonesboro. She is also survived by her brother, Terry Dale of Hattiesburg.

Her memory will be eternally cherished by her family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to know her. Cindy's life was a testament to the power of love, adventure, and the enduring strength of family. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
