Curtis Lloyd Huckaby, 65, of Jonesboro, passed away Tuesday, June 21, 2016, at his home.
Curt was born in Jonesboro and lived most of his life in the Jonesboro area. Curt earned a Bachelor degree in history from Sacramento State University in Sacramento, California, in 1974; Master degree in history from California State University in Chico, California, in 1977; and a Juris Doctorate from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville, in 1982.
Curt served as a District Judge in Jonesboro until his retirement for medical reasons earlier this year. Among Curt's many accomplishments were his service on the Bench and his contributions to the successful Arkansas State University Rugby program. Curt was a loving husband, son, brother, father and grandfather. He was a member of Nettleton Baptist Church and was preceded in death by his father, Robert Lowell Huckaby.
Survivors include his wife, Vickie Huckaby of the home; 1 daughter, Ashley Huckaby May and her husband, Steven, of Hood River, Oregon; 4 sons: Matt Huckaby and wife Randi of Jonesboro, Curtis Huckaby and wife Regan of Hood River, Oregon; Eric Walley, Deric Walley and wife Samantha (Sami), all of Jonesboro; His mother, Carolyn Leighton of Jonesboro; 1 sister, Julie Huckaby of Jonesboro; and 6 grandchildren: Hugh Huckaby, Madi Huckaby, Dan Huckaby, Miles Huckaby, Max Walley and Peri May.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday in Emerson Memorial Chapel. Burial will be private. A casual reception will follow the service in Emerson Chapel. The live webcast will be available for viewing for those unable to attend the service. Go to Emerson web site, click on Curt's icon, then scroll down and click on 'View Live Webcast'. The live webcast will be available a few minutes prior to the 1:00 p.m. service.
