Curtis Jerome Griffin, 51, of Jonesboro, died February 7, 2012 at his home. He had lived in Jonesboro since 2004 having moved here from West Palm Beach, Florida. He had attended Culinary Arts School and was a chef in West Palm Beach and at Fat City in Jonesboro. He loved cooking and helping other people. He enjoyed giving to others. He was an avid fisherman who enjoyed telling jokes, playing cards and dominoes. He loved listening to music, watching old movies, and riding his bike.
He is survived by his daughters, Carah K. Griffin, Austin, Texas, April (Jason) Starnes, Texarkana, Arkansas; grandchildren, Gavin Ham and Emma Ham; his parents, Curtis Griffin, Jr., Peoria, Illinois and Mary Tolley, Jonesboro; his brothers, Dexter Griffin, Omaha, Nebraska, Gary Sims, Jonesboro; sister, Helen Louise Simmons, Jonesboro; his grandmother, Zelma Thomas; nephew, Lonnie Simmons II; and many other family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Darell Griffin; niece, Zari Griffin; and his step-mother, Zula Griffin.
A memorial service will be Sunday, February 12, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at Emerson Memorial Chapel with Dr. Charles Coleman officiating. Emerson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Repass will be at E. Boone Watson Center at the corner of Patrick and Logan Streets following the service.
