Craig Bryant Baker

June 13, 1950 — May 26, 2025

Craig Bryant Baker, 74, of Jonesboro, passed away on May 26, 2025, at St. Bernards Medical Center. Craig was born in Schenectady, NY, on June 13, 1950, to the late Lester and Margaret Baker. In addition to his parents, Craig is preceded in death by his wife, Kimberly Baker, and his beloved pets, Sheba and others.

Craig spent most of his life in Northeast Arkansas when he wasn’t pursuing his music career. After high school, he received his bachelor’s degree from ASU and later attended Berklee College of Music, where he honed his skills as a trumpet player and earned his master’s degree. This degree fueled his love for music and equipped him with the tools necessary to share that passion with others. After college, Craig taught music in West Plains, MO. After returning to Jonesboro, he managed Bean Music Company on Main Street, and later worked for Demoulin Uniform Company, which specialized in marching band uniforms. Craig was recognized as one of the best trumpet players around. When bands like The Four Tops came to Memphis and needed a horn player, Craig was the first person they contacted. He also started a business called Counter Point Music Company, which sold and printed song arrangements. His passion for music impacted the lives of everyone in his family. From his loved ones witnessing his genius at work to tender moments with his daughter playing piano, music transcended his entire life. Craig’s devotion to music and his family set the standard for love in his life.

Craig is survived by his daughter, Alexandrea Baker of Jonesboro; his brother, Bryant Baker of Jonesboro; and one grandchild, Alexandrea Baker II.
