Clifton Bob “Bubby” Adams, 83, of Jonesboro, died Sunday, March 20, 2011, at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House.
Born in Brookland, Clifton grew up in Dixie and was a 1947 graduate of Dixie High School. Clifton married Bonnie Bailey on September 22, 1947, and moved to Jonesboro in 1948. He worked for Pepsi-Cola, Midwest Dairy, and Tyler-Watson Furniture before going to work for Arkla Gas Company where he was employed 35 years.
Clifton attended First Baptist Church of Jonesboro where he was a member of the Fellowship Sunday school class. He was preceded in death by two brothers: Clinton Adams and Harold Adams, and by two sisters: Wyveda Adams and Patricia Larson.
Survivors include his wife, Bonnie Bailey Adams of the home;
2 daughters and sons-in-law: Ruth and Craig Treadway, and Rita and Stephen Barkley, all of Jonesboro;
1 sister, Linda Spencer of Bay;
4 grandsons: Ty Barkley of Memphis, and Chris Treadway, Chandler Treadway and Caleb Barkley, all of Jonesboro;
5 great grandchildren: Adalyn Treadway, Bailey Treadway, Harrison Barkley, Jacqueline Barkley and Susannah Barkley; and
Clift’s special Jack Russell friend, “Buddy.”
Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon at 2:00 in Emerson Memorial Chapel with Bruce Tippit and Paul Bean officiating. Burial will follow in Pine Log Cemetery.
Active pallbearers include grandsons Chris Treadway, Chandler Treadway, Ty Barkley and Caleb Barkley, great grandson Harrison Barkley, and nephew Barry Clayton.
Honorary pallbearers include members of the Fellowship Sunday school class, the staff of the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House, Dr. Steve Woodruff and Price Marshall.
Visitation will be held Friday evening, 6-8, at Emerson Funeral Home.
