Cleon Johnson Jr., 54, of Jonesboro, Arkansas, passed away on January 22, 2026. He was born on September 7, 1971, in Jonesboro, where he spent most of his life building deep roots, meaningful relationships, and a legacy of love.

Cleon was the beloved son of the late Cleon Johnson Sr. and Josephine Johnson, who survives him.

He is survived by his loving wife, Jennifer Johnson; his children, Alissa Williams, Matthew Williams, Austin Williams, and LeighAnne Carlile; his mother, Josephine Johnson; and his siblings, Leola Moreland, Audrey Alfred, and Aaron Johnson (wife, Andria). He also leaves behind a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and grandchildren, all of whom were blessed to be part of his life.

For more than 20 years, Cleon proudly served the community as a bus driver for Jonesboro Public Schools, forming countless bonds with students, families, and coworkers. Since 2016, he also worked as a dispatcher for the City of Jonesboro’s Economic Transportation System, where his dedication and compassion continued to shine.

Cleon was well known throughout downtown Jonesboro for his years working at local nightclubs and restaurants as a bouncer and host. There, he built lifelong friendships, gave out endless hugs, shared infectious smiles, and—when necessary—never hesitated to escort the rowdy ones out the door. He took great pride in his work and the life it provided.

Above all, Cleon lived life to the fullest, making memories with his wife and family, who were always his top priority. He was a proud man, overflowing with love, loyalty, and kindness.

He was once the “big guy” everyone turned to—for help, a shoulder to cry on, a ride home, protection, or simply the comfort of his big heart. Even as his body grew smaller, his heart never did. Cleon was the kind of friend you could always depend on.

One of Cleon’s final wishes was simple yet powerful: to be remembered with love, to never be forgotten, and for people to continue to say his name.

Though he will be deeply missed by many, Cleon’s love, legacy, and spirit will live on forever.

Pallbearers will be Cooper Dacus, Katun Dodd, Colton Garrett, Mark Johnson, Randy Sullivan, and Austin Williams.

Honorary Pallbearers will be the beloved “Stinkybutt Gang”: Aubree Ivy, Emaleigh Forbs, River Dodd, Kendre Ivy Jr., Brynnleigh Siders, Hudson Dodd, Zaylin Williams, Harper Siders, and Emeri Ivy.

Visitation will be held Saturday, January 31, 2026 at Emerson Funeral Home starting at 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Burial will be private.
