Mrs. Claudine G. Perkins, 85, a resident of Pinehurst Drive in Columbia, TN, passed away at her residence on Friday, December 23, 2011.
Born in Monette, Arkansas on December 30, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Ruth and James Humphrey. She married Robert Lloyd Perkins on February 7th, 1946 and they were married for 22 years before he passed away. She was a very ambitious lady. She prided herself in the fact that she went back to school and received her GED in 1972. She farmed half of her lifetime, and then she worked in sales and went on to become a Nurses Aid in a nursing home. She was an accomplished baker too. She loved to dance, enjoyed reading and playing cards. She attended Free Will Baptist Church with Pastor Billy Brown, on Highway 31 in Columbia, TN, until she was no longer physically able to attend church. Although she will greatly be missed by all of her friends and family, her legacy of love will continue.
She left behind to cherish her memory five daughter; Connie Jones of Jonesboro, AR, Bonnie Derryberry of Ft. Myers, FL, Joyce Cantu of Shelbyville, TN, Mary Aldrich of Columbia, TN, and Christine Brown Taylor of Dickson, TN; two sons, Harold “Pete” Perkins of Ore City, TX, and Joe Perkins of Jonesboro, AR; five sisters, Willie Mae Kimberly, Bobbie Fountain, Ruth Farmer, Dorothy Turner and Audry Tyler; two brothers; James and Emmitt Humphrey ; 22 grandchildren; 39 great grandchildren; and 25 great-great grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Carl and Tom Humphrey.
A visitation from 5-7pm will be held on December 27, 2011 at Emerson Funeral Home.
A funeral service will be held in Emerson Memorial Chapel on Wednesday, December 28, 2011 at 2pm with interment to follow in the Trinity Cemetery in Bono, and Emerson Funeral Home will be in charge of all arrangements.
Honored serve as pallbearers; Nick Jones, Terry Cantu, Rocky Perkins, Austin Derryberry, Donnie Aldrich, and Robert Bailey.
