Claudia Gayle Hancock, 79, of Bay, died Wednesday, March 17, 2010, at The Regional Medical Center in Memphis from injuries sustained in a two-vehicle accident which occurred on March 4, 2010, in Jonesboro.
Born in North Dakota, Claudia lived several years in Colorado and Jonesboro before moving to Bay in 1973. She taught school several years and was also a licensed cosmetologist. She was a graduate of Arkansas State University and was a disabled Army veteran.
Claudia was a member of the Methodist Church and enjoyed reading and playing scrabble. She was preceded in death by her husband, Guyther Hancock, and a son, Evan Hancock.
Survivors include two daughters and a son-in-law:
Carol and Ronnie Davis, and Jodi Hancock Staten, all of Bay;
2 brothers: Ralph Mack, Jr. of Conway, and Larry Mack of Fort Smith;
3 sisters: Lavonne Patterson of North Little Rock, Sharon Dillard of Nashville, Tennessee, and Valerie LaGrone of Cabot;
4 grandchildren: Clint Davis, Chase Davis, Lacy Staten and Riley Staten; and
1 great granddaughter, Cayden Davis.
Funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at 2:00 in Emerson Memorial Chapel with Ken Brown officiating. An entombment service will be held Monday morning at 10:00 in Jonesboro Memorial Park Mausoleum chapel with Emerson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Nephews will serve as pallbearers.
Visitation will be held Saturday evening, 5-7, at Emerson Funeral Home in Jonesboro.
