Clarence Willard Borden, 88, of Jonesboro, passed away Friday, April 10, 2015, at Lexington Place Health and Rehab Center in Jonesboro.
Born in Alabama, Clarence lived in Wayne County, Tennessee, before moving to Jonesboro in 1955. He was a retired farmer and a licensed, ordained Baptist minister. Clarence is a member of Strawfloor Baptist Church but for several years was a member of Big Creek Valley Missionary Baptist Church where he served as associate pastor. He was preceded in death by his parents: James F. and Mary Jane Martin Borden, 5 sisters, 3 brothers and 1 son-in-law.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Pearl Borden, married February 28, 1951;
3 daughters: Dee Field (Hal), Peggy Householder (Steve) and Carol Hopp (David), all of Jonesboro;
3 sons: Dwain Borden (Sandra) and Joe Borden (Carla), all of Jonesboro and Jeff Borden (Mechelle) of Miles City, Montana;
1 sister, Beulah Raines of Fulton, Mississippi;
3 brothers: Orbie Borden of Conyers, Georgia, and Jimmy Borden and Roy Borden, both of Alabama;
30 grandchildren and 48 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Monday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. in Emerson Memorial Chapel with Bro. David Scott officiating. Burial will follow in Strawfloor cemetery. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
Visitation will be held Sunday from 5:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. at Emerson Funeral Home.
