Clarence Carrol (C.C.) Philpot, 88, of Jonesboro, died Friday, December 20, 2013, at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House.
C.C. was born on August 13, 1925, in Forrest City. He graduated from Forrest City High School then served overseas in the U.S. Army Air Corps during W.W. II. Following the war, C.C. attended the University of Arkansas-Fayetteville where he graduated with a degree in accounting. He had a long career working as a Certified Public Accountant for the U.S. Treasury Department where he retired as a Group Manager for the Internal Revenue Service. After retirement, C.C. devoted much of his time to farming.
C.C. was a long-time member of Central Baptist Church of Jonesboro and was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Ophelia Philpot and a brother, Col. Ernest Philpot.
Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Josephine Herod Philpot of the home;
2 sons, Philip Philpot of Jonesboro and Dr. James (Lisa) Philpot of Springfield, Missouri;
1 daughter, Joy (Carroll) Birge of Little Rock;
7 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
Graveside funeral services will be held Monday afternoon at 2:00 in Forrest Park Cemetery in Forrest City with Rev. Mike Martin officiating with Emerson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
There will be no visitation.
