Clarence “Buddy” Adams, 65, of Brookland, died Thursday afternoon at St. Bernards Medical Center. He moved to the Jonesboro area from El Paso, Texas in 1984 and was a member of the Wood’s Chapel Baptist Church. A graduate of Lake City High School, Mr. Adams was a retired Master Sergeant in the Army, having served his country in Italy, Germany, and Ft. Briggs, Texas. He was a master electrician and was a retired mechanic from Adam’s Garage.
He is survived by his sons, Jeremy Adams, Duke Climer; his daughter, Cherie Sheppard, all of Brookland; his brothers, Verlin Adams, Bono, Bill Adams, Brookland, Virgil Adams, Gene Adams, both of Kansas City; his sisters, Aliene Sidenstricker, Jonesboro, Janet Brunson, Kansas City; his grandchildren, Logan Anderson, Kailey Anderson, Caragan Climer, Lexie Climer, Bradley Climer; and 3 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Luney & Emma Adams; his brothers, Jack E. Adams, John Wesley “Dub” Adams, Jim Adams; and his sisters, Sara Mae Smullins, and Jewel Crouch.
Funeral services, with full military honors, will be held Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at Emerson Memorial Chapel with Jerry Thompson and Joey Rupard officiating. Burial will follow at Pine Log Cemetery. Emerson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Active pallbearers will be Logan Anderson, J.R. Adams, Michael Adams, Lee Guest, Bill Adams, and P.J. Adams.
Honorary pallbearers will be Lou Adams, Wayne Adams, Rick Hathcoat, Mike Rupard, Roy Story, Randy Blansett, and the Men of Wood’s Chapel Baptist Church.
Visitation will be Saturday evening from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
