Cindy Stevens Ames of Canton, GA. passed away March 4, 2012 at her home of natural causes.

Cindy was born February 4, 1955 in Flint, Michigan. When she was two years old her family moved back to Jonesboro. Cindy was preceded in death by her parents Sarah (Chatman) and Henry Stevens.

She is survived by her husband and soul mate Richard Ames and children Christopher Ames, Chrystalline Hobson, and Jennifer Feldstein; grandchildren, Damian Russell, Brett Russell, Savannah Sifuentes, Sarah Ames, Kryslin Funke and Cody Funke; 2 sisters and their husbands Henrietta and Ray Prescott of Dyersburg, Tennessee, and Debbie and Mike Carter of Paragould; nephews Jeffery Chandler and Derick Carter, and and niece, Holly Gordon.

She was a 1973 graduate of Nettleton High School where she was a varsity cheerleader. Cindy attended the University of Indiana and was well known for her accounting skills. She was a member of New Victoria Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School, was an AWANA leader, and a member of the Church Stewardship Committee. She was lovingly known as "Mrs. Cindy" by all the youth of the church, as she was the concrete that held many programs together.

She lived in many states as well as England and Germany due to the assignments of the Air Force. She was a Civil Servant for over 20 years. Her current position was the Base Management Analysis. During her career she was awarded many Superior performance awards and "Best in Command" twice. When she was the NAF Accounting Supervisor in 1988 she was awarded the Air Force "Meritorious MWR Award" for being Best in Air Force.

Her Christian love, articulate persistence to obtain perfection, generosity and loyalty to friends and family and smile will be remembered and missed by all who knew her.

A graveside funeral service will be held Saturday afternoon at 1:00 in Pine Hill Cemetery with Rev. Terry Gage officiating. Visitation will be held Saturday from 10:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. in Emerson Funeral Home in Jonesboro.
