Charles W. Minga

October 23, 1938 — June 25, 2010

Charles W. (Charlie) Minga, 71, of Jonesboro, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, June 25, 2010, at his residence.

Born in Scobey, Mississippi, Charles moved to Jonesboro in 1951. He retired as a Captain with the Jonesboro Fire Department in 1985. He was an Arkansas National Guard veteran and a member of the Nettleton Masonic Lodge. He was a past member of the Nettleton High School Band Boosters Club and the NEA Beekeepers Association.

Charles was a member of First Presbyterian Church and was preceded in death by his first wife, Shirley Minga, his father, William Sylvester Minga, and a brother, Johnny Sylvester Minga.

Survivors include his wife, Patty Minga of the home;

2 daughters and a son-in-law: Kim Minga-Johnson, and Terri and Jerrod Adams, all of Jonesboro;

2 step sons: Michael Lee Wiley and Patrick Ryan Goza both of Jonesboro;

His mother, Edna Mae Minga of Jonesboro;

1 sister and her husband, Sue and Paul Haas of Jonesboro;

1 brother and his wife, Shirley H. and Joyce Minga of Trumann;

4 grandchildren and their spouses: Courtney and Matthew Quinn, Christopher and Robin Johnson, Matthew Cody Thomas and Stephanie Thomas; and

1 great granddaughter: Raegan McKenzie Johnson, and an additional great grandchild to be born in December.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon at 2:00 in Emerson Memorial Chapel with Guy Delaney, David Schaller and Floyd Cabe officiating. Burial will follow in Oaklawn Cemetery with Firefighter Honors.

Members of the Jonesboro Fire Department Honor Guard will serve as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers include Wayne Masterson, Herb Wicker, Ray Blevins, Paul Schneider, Lawrence Schneider and Jonesboro Fire Department retirees.

Visitation will be held Monday from 5:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. at Emerson Funeral Home.
