Charles “Pops”Edward Stallings, 72 of Jonesboro passed from this life on Thursday, January 18, 2018 at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House. He was born to the late Woodrow and Helen Stallings on January 8, 1946 near Osceola, Arkansas. Charles and his wife, Peggy, attended Central Baptist Church. He worked for Lincoln Manufacturing for 23 years, and when they closed, Charles went to work at JK Products for 10 years before retiring. When Charles was younger he enjoyed fishing and roller skate dancing. When he was not working he enjoyed tinkering on lawnmowers. In addition to his parents, Charles is preceded in death by his sister, Mary Ruth Loyd.
Charles is survived by his wife of 48 years, Peggy Stallings of Jonesboro; daughter, Julie Isom (Randy) of Bono; brothers, Walter O’Neal Stallings of Pearcy, Arkansas and Carl Stallings of Paragould; sisters, Jeanette Thrasher and Edna Jean Stone both of Burdette, Arkansas ;grandchildren, Allison Robins and Jared Robins; and step grandchildren, Chelsea Aschenbrenner (Tyler), Clayton Isom, and Chad Isom. Charles also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and friends.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, January 22, 2018 at Emerson Funeral Home with Larry Bailey officiating. Burial will follow at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery with the active pallbearers being Mike Gunn, Wendall Rackley, Cecil Gulley, John Manning, and Kyle Manning. The honorary pallbearer is Jared Robins.
The visitation will be from 1:00 – 2:00 prior to the service.
