Charles Collie (Coach) Miller, died January 9, 2007 at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro.
He was 97 years old. Mr. Miller was born in Ada, Arkansas at the foot of Petit Jean Mountain. In 1927 he received a Teacher’s License, and in 1930 he was awarded a scholarship to Arkansas Polytechnic College in Russellville, Arkansas. In 1932 he moved to Cardwell, Missouri to farm. There he met and married Bonnie Marie Holcomb in 1933.
Mr. Miller is a retired farmer and is also retired from the Brewer Brothers Midway service station in Cardwell where he worked for 42 years. Mr. Miller was a member of the Fairview Baptist Church, Jonesboro.
Mr. Miller is survived by his three sons, Joe A. Miller, Jonesboro; Jerry L. Miller, Las Vegas, Nevada; and Glenn D. Miller, Spokane, Washington; and one daughter, Bonnie Jean Brown, San Diego, California; 10 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren; two sisters, Novella Yates, Sikeston, Missouri; and Odessa Jones, Morley, Missouri; and one brother, Ferrell Miller also of Sikeston. Mr. Miller was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 71 years, Bonnie; his parents, James Madison and Rose Etta Hale Miller; two brothers, G. C. Miller and Odell Miller, and two sisters, Jewell Bennett and Connie Havener.
Graveside services will be held at the Cardwell Cemetery, Cardwell, Missouri at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, January 13, 2007. Visitation will be at the Emerson Funeral Home in Jonesboro from 2:00 – 5:00 P.M. on Friday January 12, 2007, with Emerson Funeral Home of Jonesboro in charge of arrangements.
