Charles Ray McDonald, 84, of Jonesboro, passed away peacefully at his home Sunday, October 31, 2021. Charles was born on April 29 th , 1937 to the late Ovia and George McDonald. In addition to his parents, Charles is preceded in death by one sister, Phyllis Poole.
Charles served in, and retired from, the US Navy. He also retired as a life long civil servant. Charles was very skilled and industrious with his hands. There was never a problem he couldn’t overcome. While living in Jonesboro, Charles was a member at Central Baptist Church and served as deacon at several other churches prior to his membership at Central and would always try his best to put Christ first. He was an avid motorcycle enthusiast who enjoyed traveling. Most importantly, Charles loved being with his family.
Charles is survived by his wife, of 57 years, Linda McDonald; son, Colonel Chris McDonald, of Washington D.C.; daughter, Julie Milnes (Danny), of Jonesboro; sister, Faye Anders, of St. Louis; half-brother, Carl McDonald; step-sister, Dottie Whiteside (Kenneth); and step-brother, Pete Waters; and two grandchildren, Rachel and Joshua Milnes.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 28, 2021 at Central Baptist Church.
