Charles Thomas Mccorkle

July 14, 1935 — December 28, 2024

Charles Thomas McCorkle, 89, of Trumann passed from this life on December 28, 2024 at his home. He was born on July 14, 1935 in Excelsior Springs, Missouri to the late Jessie William and Ethel Mae McCorkle.

Charles has lived in Trumann since 2016, having previously lived in Nixa, Missouri and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Jonesboro. Charles retired from Ryder trucking Co where he worked as General manager.   He loved to watch NASCAR each week with Joann, his wife; he loved gardening...Charles was said to have had 10 green fingers not just two green thumbs always had a beautiful yard too and plenty of vegetables in his garden to share with friends, family and firefighters of Nixa, Missouri. He loved to watch and feed the birds. He could practically fix, repair, or build anything from building a wood fence for his daughter’s home to bird houses and a doll house to repairing a creaking garage door to hooking up a land line phone. His daughter and daughter in law always had a "to do" list when he came to visit.  He liked to be involved in the community. He was an Alderman for the city of Nixa, Missouri as well as a member of the planning and zoning committee and a member of the azalea club where he participated in planting azaleas in the Nixa community garden.  He worked hard but always had time for his family.  He and Joann were a team and did everything together.  It would be a rare moment to see one without the other. In the last months before Joann passed away, he cooked and cleaned for her.  She would say she could hear him in the kitchen using every utensil and pot in the house when he cooked.  He said he met Joann at a dance and danced with her for 52 years and 2 days.  After her death he moved to Trumann, Arkansas and said the man upstairs led him to the home he bought which was right next door to the best neighbors anyone could ask for.

In addition to his parents, Charles is preceded in death by his loving wife, Joann McCorkle as well as a brother, Robert McCorkle.

Those left to cherish his memory include his daughter, Sheryl (Keith) Webb; son, Ken (Pam) McCorkle; sisters, Sharon McCorkle Johnson and Lois Ann McCorkle Dundas (Dennis) as well as 5 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at First Presbyterian Church in Jonesboro on Friday, January 3rd, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow the funeral service at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery.

A visitation will precede the service starting at 10:30 a.m. and conclude at the start of the service.
