Charles Michael Johnston, 77, of rural Jonesboro, passed from this life on Monday, September 3, 2018, at his home.
Born in Brookland, Charles Michael lived all of his life in the Brookland-Jonesboro area and spent much of his life in the automobile business, buying, building and selling cars. Before going full time in the car business, Charles Michaelworked a few years for Frolic Footwear and United Shoe Machinery. He was of the Baptist faith.
Charles Michael always enjoyed anything with an engine including motorcycles, stock cars, muscle cars, antique cars and car shows. Following retirement Charles Michael enjoyed visiting with friends over breakfast at Hardee's Restaurant.
Charles Michael was preceded in death by his mother, Christine Johnston Coleman and his grandparents: Willie and Anna Johnston.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Delores Dickens Johnston of the home;
1 son, Shane Johnston, and
2 daughters: Sherry Johnston Adkins, and Michele Johnston Crow, all of Jonesboro;
1 brother and sister-in-law: Ron and Millie Coleman of Brookland;
1 granddaughter, Brittney Adkins; and
several nephews and nieces.
A memorial service will be at 6:00 p.m. Thursday evening at Emerson Memorial Chapel with Rev. Rick Hathcoat officiating. Burial will be private.
Visitation will be from 4:00-6:00 p.m. preceding the service.
