Charles J. Smith, 72, of Jonesboro, passed from this life on January

14, at St. Bernard’s Hospital. Charles was born in Jonesboro on

February 16, 1946, to the late Charles and Eloise Pirtle Smith.

Charles lived in Jonesboro for 30 years, was a member of the

Greensboro Road Church of Christ and a U.S. Navy Vietnam

Veteran where he served aboard the USS Kitty Hawk during the

Vietnam War.

Survived by his daughter, Cheryl Pieri (Chanley) of Jonesboro.

Sisters, Hilda Wilcox and Barbara Geary both of Jonesboro.

4 granddaughters, Jennifer Cooper, Miranda Bryant, Kristie Todd,

and Letha Moore.

4 great grandsons and 4 great granddaughters.

One nephew, Charley Wilcox, and one niece, Jennifer Wilcox, 3

great nieces, and one great nephew.

Funeral service will be held at 12:00 noon on Friday, January 18,

2019, in Emerson stateroom with Bill Willard officiating. Burial will

follow in the Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery in Birdeye with

Emerson Funeral Home in charge.

Visitation will be from 5-7:00 p.m. on Thursday at Emerson

Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Sidney Cooper, Brandon Bryant, Joseph Todd,

Mark Stoker, Charley Wilcox, and Hal Baugh.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials may be

made to the Greensboro Road Church of Christ or the Alzheimer’s

Association 225 N. Michigan Ave. Chicago, Illinois 60601-7633.
