Charles Fred Hollis

August 7, 1933 — November 1, 2016

Charles Fred Hollis, 83, of Jonesboro Arkansas passed peacefully from this life November 1, 2016. He was born on August 7th 1933 on the family farm in Piggott Arkansas, to Charly Houston Hollis and Linnie Allman Hollis.

Mr. Hollis was of Baptist belief, a Navy Veteran, and a member of the Masonic Lodge. He was also an active member of the Veterans of Foreign War and the American Legion for many years. Born and raised on the farm, he learned the importance of hard work and resourcefulness. Lessons he kept with him throughout his life and passed on to his family. Self-employed in the mobile home business for more than 50 years, he traveled the country and many miles in his home state of Arkansas. Until the end, he could recall every home he delivered and who he delivered it for. An avid hunter who continued to enjoy the farm, he found great joy sharing that love with his children, grandchildren and most recently his great- grandchildren. He loved to share stories, a laugh, and bounty from his hunting adventures. He enjoyed watching the Dallas Cowboys and the St. Louis Cardinals and was passionate about both. Mr. Hollis was an avid pool
player, a hobby he enjoyed with many friends.

One of seven children, his siblings are: Margie Wesserling (Dick), Bea Gilbert (deceased), Sid Hollis (Sue), Nancy Benson (Shirley), and Elmo Hollis (Carolyn) all of Piggott, and Jim Hollis (Barbara) of Buda, Texas.

Mr. Hollis is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Paula Robinson Hollis of the home, his four children, Becky Hollis Shannon (Sam), Richard Hollis (Karen) of Jonesboro, Jeff Hollis (Gerry), of Tifton Georgia, and Phillip Hollis, also of Jonesboro. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Brannen Hollis, Jake Bleichner, Sean Hollis, Bo Pulliam, Stephani Parish, Chris Pulliam, Anthony Bleichner, Hunter Pulliam, Dane Hollis, Taylor Shannon, and Kristopher Hollis, and thirteen great- grandchildren.

Though small in stature, he was always larger than life and will leave a hole in our world that can never be filled. We know he goes before us to prepare a place in heaven.

A celebration of his life will be held in the home at 901 Sylvan Hills Drive November 6th, 2016 from 2:00-5:00 pm. Everyone is welcome. A private family service will be held on the Hollis farm in Piggott on November 26th.
