Charles Delbert Harlan Sr.

August 13, 1921 — September 6, 2013

Charles Delbert Harlan, Sr., passed away Sept. 6 at the age of 92 at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House. He was born in Lake City, Aug. 13, 1921 to Lee and Ollie Harlan. He was a World War II veteran, a retired postmaster at Trumann, and also served as City Treasurer at both Trumann and Bay for several years.

He was preceded in death by the mother of his children, Frances Swanner Harlan. Delbert was also preceded in death by his wife Maxine McDaniel Harlan, and 6 brothers and sisters.

Surviving are his spouse, Opal Harmon Harlan; son Charles Harlan (Joyce) of Jonesboro; daughters Suzanne Brickell (Joe) of Carmel, Indiana, and Debbie Evans (Ron) of Bella Vista; 7 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Also surviving are stepchildren David McDaniel and family, Mike Harmon and family, and Sandra Harmon Gambill and family, and one brother, Henry Crawford Harlan.

Visitation will be at Emerson Funeral Home Sunday afternoon from 3-5. Funeral services are at Emerson Memorial Chapel, Monday morning at 10 am. Burial will follow at Jonesboro Memorial Park.
