Charles "Chuck" Gibbs

February 2, 1958 — November 14, 2021

Charles Dale "Chuck" Gibbs, 63, of Trumann, died Sunday November 14, 2021, at Lakeside Nursing Center in Lake City.

Born and raised in McLeansboro, Illinois, Chuck lived in Carmi, Illinois, much of his life before moving to Trumann two years ago. Chuck worked several jobs in his adult life including a Rail Inspector for Sperry Rail Service in Illinois. He also worked as a land surveyor and in the automotive service profession.

Chuck was of the Baptist faith and was a avid St. Louis Cardinals Baseball fan and a member of the McLeansboro Fraternal Order of the Eagle. He enjoyed riding four-wheelers, playing bass guitar in a local band and hanging out with his buddies.  Chuck enjoyed a lively game of darts and listening to traditional country music and classic rock music. He also had a favorite dog named "Spud."  But above everything else, Chuck dearly loved his daughter and granddaughter and thought the world of them.

The family wishes to extend heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the professional caregivers and staff of Lakeside Nursing Center and Elite Hospice for taking excellent care of  Chuck during his stay at Lakeside. The many acts of sincere kindness will always be remembered.

Chuck was preceded in death by his parents: Byford and Edith James Gibbs; and sister and brother-in-law: Betty Ruth and Lanny Stocke.

Survivors include his daughter, Lola Kirstie Gibbs (Nathan Willett) of Trumann;

1 brother, Gailon Gibbs and his wife Mary Jane of Salem, Illinois;

2 grandchildren: Emma Grace Elam and Dawsyn Reagan; and

2 nieces: Tonya Moore of Chicago and Lisa Gibbs Ban and husband Matt of St. Louis.

There will be a graveside service and burial in Glenview Cemetery in McLeansboro, Illinois.
