Charles E. Johnson, Jr.

January 15, 1964 — April 9, 2012

Charles Edward Johnson, Jr., 48, of Jonesboro, died Monday at Methodist Hospital Central in Memphis.

Born in Wichita Falls, Texas, Charles grew up in West Memphis where he graduated in the 1982 class of West Memphis High School. He lived in Southaven, Mississippi, before moving to Jonesboro 13 years ago.

Charles was the founding owner of Pak-Mail in Jonesboro and operated it for several years while working at Averitt Express. He later sold Pak-Mail and stayed full time with Averitt. He is a member of Nettleton Baptist Church of Jonesboro.

Survivors include his wife, Kim Merritt Johnson of the home;

3 children: Blake Johnson, Meagan Johnson and Trey Johnson, all of the home;

His parents, Charles Edward, Sr. and Elaine Pavlik Johnson of West Memphis; and

2 sisters and brothers-in-law: Carla and Dewayne Barger and Dena and John Mitchum, all of West Memphis.

Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at 2:00 in Emerson Memorial Chapel with Craig Miller officiating. Burial will follow in Jonesboro Memorial Park.

Active pallbearers include: Sammy Grigsby, Joel Saddler, Wayne Baker, Scott Taylor, Reggie Chavers, Shannon Kee, Chad Furnish and Doug Mathis.

Visitation will be held Wednesday evening, 5-7, at Emerson Funeral Home, 1629 E. Nettleton Ave., Jonesboro, AR 72401.
