Charles David Smith

Charles David Smith, 63, of Jonesboro passed from this life Friday, September 15, 2017 at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro. He was born to the late Charles H. Jr. and Marietta Smith on December 29, 1953 in Hopkinsville, Kentucky. He resided in Jonesboro for the past 27 years after coming from Hopkinsville. David was a faithful member of Grace Point Church of Christ. He was a good Christian man who was very active in his church life. He was an avid runner and loved attending Fitness Bootcamp. David enjoyed golfing and fishing too.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

David is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Maribeth Smith, of the home; one son Charles David Smith Jr. “Chad” of Jonesboro; one daughter: Elizabeth (Marcus) Short of Tulsa, OK; one brother: Kevin G. (Sandi) Smith of Ashland, KY; one sister: Lura Popovich of Plano, TX; and two grandchildren: Owen Short and Katherine Short.

A visitation will be from 6-8 pm Sunday, September 17, 2017 at Emerson Funeral Home.

A funeral service will be at 2pm Monday, September 18, 2017 at Emerson Memorial Chapel with David Gibson and Michael Meredith officiating. Burial will follow the service at Pleasant Grove Cemetery. Active pallbearers will include: Paul Wallis, Marc Hogue, Tony Pearson, Ron Shelton, Lance Brown, and Rick White. Honorary pallbearers will include: Steve Culp, Rod Boydston, Greg Hogue, Alan Gossett, Terry Smith, David Tennison, Shannon Lenderman, Randy Nelms, Danny Wallis, and Randy Simpkins.
