Charles Russell Dupwe Jr, also known as "Chuck," by his close friends and colleagues, of Santa Fe, New Mexico, passed away on April 6, 2023 due to complications from a lun infection.  Charles was born on May 11, 1940, to Charles and Margaret Dupwe in Jonesboro, Arkansas. He spent most of his youth in Roswell, New Mexico, and obtained an architectural degree from Texas Tech University in 1963.

Charles was an accomplished architect and business owner. He designed numerous buildings in Roswell, Washington, D.C. and Santa Fe. He was also an expert at remodeling homes in Santa Fe and on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C. His remodeled home on Capitol Hill was featured in a 1977 tour of homes, and Charles was quoted in the Washington Post in an article featuring comments on his remodeling expertise.

During his lifetime, Charles belonged to several professional architectural organizations. He was a member of the Capitol Hill Restoration Society and one of the directors of the New Mexico Society of Architects, AIA in Santa Fe. He was also a philanthropist and gave generously to museums, boy's and girl's clubs, and local organizations. Also, a lover of the arts, Charles enjoyed attending theater productions and the Santa Fe Opera, visiting art galleries, and watching his British television shows. He was also an accomplished gourmet cook who enjoyed entertaining his friends and loved traveling to Mexico, Europe, and South America.

Charles (Chuck), and affectionately known as "Uncle" by nieces and nephews, will be dearly missed by his sister- and brother- in-law, Margaret and John Kieffer of Rio Rancho, New Mexico, his 4 nieces and 1 nephew, as well as numerous great nieces and nephews, beloved cousins, extended family and friends, and close friend Efrain Prieto of Santa Fe. "Go placidly amid the noise and haste. Remember what peace there may be in silence."

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00, Monday, May 1, 2023 at Emerson Memorial Chapel with Father Martin Amaro officiating and Emerson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.  Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.  All other services will be private.
