Charlene "Charlie" Walton

Charlene “Charlie” Walton, 72, of Jonesboro passed from this life on Wednesday, October 26, 2016 at her home. She was born on November 26, 1943 to B.C. and Ludean Gulley in Jonesboro. Charlie was a member of Friendly Hope Baptist Church and retired from ASU after working for over 30 years. She enjoyed reading, going out to eat with her classmates, and spending time with her family. Charlie is preceded in death by her parents, B.C. and Ludean Gulley; and nephew, Curtiss Gulley.

Charlie is survived by her son, Rodney May (Tammy); daughter, Stacy Seel; brother, Cecil Gulley (Brenda); grandchildren, Whitney Allen (Chris), Tony May, Ashley Richbourg (Michael), Regan Hinson (Ben), and Zachary Crisp (Brittany); great grandchildren, Makyle Hinson, Elijah Hinson, and Bryson Allen. Charlie also leaves behind her faithful canine companion, Laya.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, October 29, 2016 at Emerson Memorial Chapel with Bro. Bobby Burnett and Bro. Don Vuncannon officiating. Burial will follow at Pierce Cemetery with the active pallbearers being Kenneth Gulley, Michael Richbourg, Curtis Robinson, Zach Crisp, Cletus Collins, and Elmer Brown. The honorary pallbearers will be the Valley View graduating class of 1961.

The visitation will be held from 5-7 on Friday, October 28, 2016 at Emerson Funeral Home. In consideration of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.
