Cecil J. Hancock, 92, of Jonesboro, died Wednesday, March 12, 2008 at St. Bernards Medical Center. He had lived in Jonesboro since 1987, moving here from Mammoth Springs, Arkansas. Cecil was a lifetime member of the VFW, a member of the National Federation of Federal Employees and a US Army veteran of World War II.
Cecil was a member of the Jonesboro Christian Church and was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and two sisters.
Survivors include his wife, Wilma Hancock of the home; two brothers, Orville Hancock, Fort Worth, Texas; and Dale Hancock, Walnut Ridge, Arkansas.
Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M., Saturday, March 15, 2008 at Emerson Memorial Chapel with Steve Shepherd officiating and burial to follow at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery with Emerson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers are Paul Hancock, Michael Nelson, Shaun Hopkins, Rodney Dobbs, Steven Smith, Mike Scott and Jammie Miner. Honorary pallbearers are the men of the Jonesboro Christian Church. Visitation will be from 12:30 P.M., Saturday until service time at Emerson’s Chapel.
