Cecil Bowers, 87, of Jonesboro passed away on Monday, September 14, 2015 at his residence.Cecil was born on March 19, 1928 in Knobel to the late Fred and Ethel Henry Bowers. As a young man he was drafted into the military where he served two years with the US Army. He worked most of his career as a self-employed diesel mechanic. He was a member of Southwest Church of Christ, and he was a fun loving person. He loved to fish and hunt, especially pheasant hunting. He had many travels to South Dakota to hunt pheasant with his friends. He and his wife loved traveling the world to see new destinations. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by an infant son, Gary Wayne Bowers; two brothers, Fredmon and Gerald Bowers; and one sister, Aline Cruce. He is survived by his loving wife, Carolyn Bowers of the home; brother, Melvin (Linda) Bowers of Jonesboro; two sisters, Lola Bowers of Memphis and Leone (Ray) McKay of Park Hills, MO; and a host of other family and friends. Funeral services will be Wednesday afternoon at 1:00pm in the Emerson Memorial Chapel with Steve Martin officiating. Interment will take place at 3:00pm in Bond Cemetery in Knobel area with Military Honors and Emerson Funeral Home in charge of all arrangements. Visitation will be from 12:15-1:00pm on Wednesday.
