Cathy Ann Vuncannon

Cathy Ann Vuncannon, 73, of Jonesboro passed from this life Saturday, November 13, 2021 at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House. She was born to the late Elbert and Beulah Faye Throgmartin on December 14, 1947 in Jonesboro, AR.

Cathy has resided in Jonesboro for the last 37 years after coming from the Trumann area. She was a longtime member of Community Fellowship Church of Jonesboro until she retired and moved to Cherokee Village after the death of her husband. There, she became active and enjoyed serving the Lord at Highland Assembly of God. She loved her life, her church, and her friends at Cherokee Village. Cathy spent many years involved in women’s and children’s ministries. She especially enjoyed her years as a leader of Bible Study Fellowship. She was a true servant and her heart's desire was to be able to bless and serve others anyway that she could. Cathy loved people and she loved animals but, most of all, Cathy loved her family more than anything. She was dedicated to serving them and meeting their needs. Cathy was very helpful in the operation of Vuncannon Rentals for over 50 years. She also enjoyed sewing, traveling, and cooking. Cathy’s most memorable quote that she would always say is “Help as many as you can, for as long as you can, while you can”. She believed that is what Christ would have her do and her life was about Christ.

In addition to her parents, Cathy is preceded in death by her son, Michael Vuncannon; her husband, Floyd Vuncannon; sister, Diane Throgmartin; and brother, Kenny Throgmartin.

Cathy is survived by one daughter, Dana (Matt) Sheets of Jonesboro; brother, Danny (Patty) Throgmartin of Jonesboro; two grandchildren, Erica Sheets and Emily Sheets; and several nieces and nephews who she loved as her own.

A visitation will be from 12:30 – 2 p.m. Thursday, November 18, 2021 at Emerson Funeral Home.

A funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. Thursday, November 18, 2021 at Emerson Funeral Home with Pastor Dave Burgess, Pastor Chris Clem, and Chris Patterson officiating.

Burial will follow at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery with active pallbearers being: Matt Sheets, Patrick Patterson, Caleb Garner, Cade Hosman, Anthony Patterson, and Shay Throgmartin.
