Catherine Marie Payne

Catherine Marie Payne, 73, of Jonesboro passed from this life Monday, August 7, 2017 at St. Bernard’s Medical Center surrounded by her family. She was born in Pittsburg, PA on April 17, 1944 to Edsel and Fern Strong. Catherine has resided in Jonesboro for past 29 years after coming from Redlands, CA. She was a long time member of The Seventh-day Adventist Church in Jonesboro, while also being a faithful woman of God. Catherine wrote many children’s books and also taught Sabbath Day School for many years. She was a very devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Catherine was very active in helping out our Community over the years. She also worked for 16 years as an Administrative Specialist II ROTC/Arkansas State University.

In addition to her mother, Catherine was preceded in death by her grandson, Jeremy Wood.

Catherine is survived by her father Edsel Strong of Pittsburg, PA; husband: Bill Payne of 42 years; two sons: Stevie (Mandi) Henderson of Parkersburg, WV and Dorian Henderson of San Bernardino County, CA; three daughters: Pamela (Jimmy) Chapman of Freeport, FL, Christina Cain and Warren Humphrey of Houston, TX, and April (Jason) Roush of Jonesboro; several brothers and sisters; fifteen grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Family will start receiving friends at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 12, 2017 at The Seventh-day Adventist Church in Jonesboro followed by a Memorial Service beginning at 2:30 p.m. with Pastor Abraham Velazquez.
