Catherine Hochstetler

Catherine Bettis Hochstetler of Cleveland Ga., formerly of Jonesboro, died Wednesday, December 13, 2017 at Friendship Health and Rehab in Cleveland.

Catherine was born in Trumann, Ark. on July 20, 1925, to Ethel Berkley Bettis and Charles Hale Bettis. Catherine married Laysel Hochstetler in 1944. They lived in Jonesboro most of their married life, where they were members of First Presbyterian Church where Catherine was active in church Bible study circles.

Catherine earned a degree in Home Economics at Arkansas State College in 1956 and totally enjoyed cooking meals for family and friends. Catherine also enjoyed being a faculty wife. She belonged to several groups and clubs and playing Bridge was a passion for her.

In 2011, Catherine moved to Georgia to be near her children. Catherine was preceded in death by her husband, Laysel, her mother and father and 3 brothers: Lyle, James (Bo), and Conrad Bettis.

Catherine is survived by sons Douglas (Ernestine) of Cleveland, Ga., and Frank (Debbie), of Colbert, Ga., and one brother, Charles Bettis, of Decatur, Ga. Also surviving are four grandchildren: Justin Hochstetler of Roswell, Ga, Greyden (Melissa) Hochstetler of Dunwoody, Ga, Garrett (Lindsey) Hochstetler of Anderson SC and Kelsey (Luke) Osborne of Colbert, Ga, and two great grandchildren: Phoebe Cermak and Lace Hochstetler; and several nephews and nieces.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 17 in Emerson Memorial Chapel with Rev. Michael Blackwood officiating. Burial will follow in Nettleton Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1:00 -2:00 p.m. prior to the service.

Pallbearers include Justin Hochstetler, Greyden Hochstetler, Garrett Hochstetler, Austin Bowen and Kelsey Osborne.

For lasting memorials, the family asks that consideration be given to the charity of the donor's choice.
