Catherine Johnson Gilliam, 83, of Jonesboro died Friday morning at NEA Baptist Memorial Hospital. She was the co-owner and bookkeeper for Gilliam-Horton Furniture Store in Jonesboro. She loved to sew and was a member of the Walnut Ridge Sewing Club. She also loved to cook and especially loved dancing and Big Band music. She was an active member of the Nettleton Church of Christ.
She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Harris Gilliam; her daughter and son-in-law, Laura Gilliam & Michael Jones; her grandchildren, Maggie Jones and Seth Jones, all of Jonesboro.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Oliver & Nellie Long Johnson; two brothers, Rudy Johnson and Roy Johnson.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at Emerson Memorial Chapel with Jimmy Ferguson officiating. Burial will follow in Lawrence Memorial Park Cemetery in Walnut Ridge. Emerson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Active pallbearers will be Cecil Wilkerson, Ron Stultz, Craig Gilliam, Stan Daniel, Tom Warmack, and David Wolf.
Honorary pallbearers will be Ginger Adams, Gertie Galleher, Mary Kathryn Berry, Jean Pasmore, and members of Nettleton Church of Christ.
Visitation will be held Saturday from 12:30 – 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
