Casimira Treviño Cantu, 95, of Jonesboro, passed away on June 10, 2025, at Lawrence Hall Health & Rehab in Walnut Ridge. Casimira was born in Los Ramones, Nuevo León, Mexico, on March 4, 1930, to the late Melesio Treviño and Rita Cantu. In addition to her parents, Casimira was preceded in death by her husband, Jose Oyervides; her sisters, Rita, Felipa, and Josefa; her brothers, Bruno and Fidencio; and one child, Ofelia.
Born and raised in Mexico, Casimira lived a modest life on her family ranch. She was a diligent worker, rising early to tend to the cows, horses, chickens, and other animals in her care. Eventually, Casimira became a stay-at-home mother, opting to care for her family and manage the farm simultaneously. Beyond her household duties, she was actively involved in her church. Casimira cherished her church and loved singing from the hymnal. Above all, her devotion to family came first, as she spent many years caring for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Casimira is survived by her sons Manuel, Miguel, Casimiro, and Luis; her daughters Francisca, Juanita, Enedina, Josefina, and Herlinda; and her 29 grandchildren and 41 great-grandchildren.
A funeral service is scheduled for 2:00 pm on June 17, 2025, at Emerson Funeral Home. A visitation will occur before the service from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm. Burial will take place after the service at Nettleton Cemetery.
Entonces Jesús le dijo:
—Yo soy la resurrección y la vida.
El que cree en mí vivirá, aunque muera;
y todo el que vive y cree en mí no morirá jamás.
