James "Casey" Fortson, 43, of Jonesboro, passed from this life on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, in Memphis. He was born on February 24, 1983, in Jonesboro to Randy Fortson and Cindy Rash Wimberley.

Casey was a devoted husband, daddy, son, brother, and friend whose greatest joy in life was his family. He and his wife, Katie, were faithful members of Bay First Baptist Church, where they worshiped together. An avid motorcycle and dirt bike enthusiast, Casey loved the thrill of racing and spending time outdoors. He was also a talented artist who enjoyed drawing and had a passion for building and flying RC airplanes.

Gifted with remarkable mechanical ability, Casey could fix just about anything. Whether working on engines, creating something with his hands, or helping someone in need, he approached every task with skill and determination. His creativity, ingenuity, and willingness to lend a helping hand will be remembered by all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Jim and Betty Rash; and his paternal grandmother, Yvonne Fortson.

Those left to cherish his memory include his beloved wife of six years, Katie Fortson of Jonesboro; his daughter, Olivia Fortson of Jonesboro; his father, Randy Fortson (Ava) of Jonesboro; his mother, Cindy Wimberley (Richard) of Jonesboro; his brothers, Luke Fortson (Amber) of Jonesboro and Beau Fortson of Jonesboro; his sisters, Sarah Bednar of Jonesboro, Rebecca Scott of Arlington, Tennessee, and Tamara Britt (Matt) of Jonesboro; along with a host of extended family members and dear friends.

Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 8, 2026, at Bay First Baptist Church, 200 Central Street, Bay, Arkansas 72411. The funeral service will immediately follow at 1:00 p.m. with Bro. Danny Taylor officiating. Burial will follow at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Chad Colbert, Jason Phillips, Jeff Baney, Winston Brown, Garrett Hampton, and Mark Jackson. Honorary pallbearers will be Casey's Sunday School class, the Genesis Class.
