Carthel "Junior" Dortch

Carthel Junior Dortch, 75, of Jonesboro passed away on Saturday, March 28, 2015 at St. Bernards Medical Center.

Carthel Junior Dortch was born on November 23, 1939 to Oris Carthel and Helen Wages Dortch in Sheridan. He attended Arkansas State University and worked as a funeral director and in the printing industry. After retirement he went to work as a Door Greeter for the Parker Road Wal-Mart. He enjoyed watching basketball and loved telling stories from his past. He was a member of the St. Paul United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 50 years, Anne Hughes Dortch; and his father Oris Dortch.

He is survived by one daughter, Lee Anne Bounds and her husband Ray of Jonesboro; two sons, Britt Dortch and his wife Julie of Jonesboro and Kelly Dortch and his wife Gina of West palm Beach, FL; mother, Helen Deaton of El Dorado; two brothers, Jerrell (Debbie) Dortch of Sheridan and Jerry (Glenda) Dortch of Searcy; one sister, Doris (Rev.Don) Ashcraft of El Dorado; eleven grandchildren, Courtney(Doug), Cody(Heather), Aaron Kelly(Samantha), Aaron, Austin, Kaylen, Christian, Jordan, Aiden, Ashton, and Jenna; six great grandchildren, Anthony, Jasmine, Aurora, Zayden, Gabriel, and Jacob; and a host of other family and friends.

A Memorial service will be at 11:00am Thursday, April 2, 2015 at St. Paul United Methodist Church with Rev. Charles Sigman officiating. Burial will be private with Emerson Funeral Home in charge of all arrangements.

Visitation will be 5-7pm Tuesday, March 31, 2015 at Emerson Funeral Home.
