Carroll Dean Turman, 85, of Jonesboro, passed away on Shabbat, September 14, 2024, at the Flo & Phil Jones Hospice House, surrounded by his loved ones. Born on January 3, 1939, to Howell and Louis Turman in Jonesboro, Arkansas.
A 1956 graduate of Nettleton High School, Dean proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Marine Corps. After his service, he built a career in retail management and eventually retired from Dana Corporation, where he was known for his leadership and work ethic. Dean was a man of deep faith, attending Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church and later becoming a dedicated member of Nettleton Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, Dean was preceded in death by his brothers, Billy Hal and Robert Delano, and his beloved son, James “Jimmy” Turman, whose memory he cherished dearly.
Dean is survived by his devoted wife of 68 years, Margaret Sue Houston Turman, with whom he shared a lifetime of love and partnership. He leaves behind his daughter, Laura Beth Turman French Pugh, and his cherished granddaughter, Wendy Leigh French Queen, who was a light in his life. He is also survived by his brother, Jim Turman, and numerous extended family and friends who will miss his warmth and wisdom.
A graveside service honoring Dean's life will be held on 1:00 p.m. ,Thursday, September 19, 2024, at Pine Hill Cemetery.
