Carroll Wayne “CW” Morris, 84, of Jonesboro, Arkansas died peacefully on Monday, January 13, 2025 with his wife and daughter by his side.

Born on a farm outside of Bay, AR on March 13, 1940, Carroll attended Bay area schools from first through twelfth grade, earning the distinction of being Valedictorian of his senior class. He completed a Bachelor of Science in Education degree in Agriculture from Arkansas State University. After college graduation, Carroll enlisted in the United States Marine Corp, serving one tour in Vietnam and earning the rank of Captain before receiving an honorable discharge. His 4 ½ years as a Marine were a source of great pride for Carroll throughout his life.

In 1964, Carroll married Myra Kendrick Morris, also of Bay, AR. Carroll and Myra went on to have 4 children and settle outside of Sumner, MS in the Mississippi Delta region, where, in 1971, Carroll found work doing what he loved – farming. From 1971 to 2013, Carroll managed a large farming operation where he oversaw the row crop production of thousands of acres of varying crops through the years, including cotton, corn, wheat, soybeans, sorghum, and peanuts. In 2013, he and Myra returned to Jonesboro to spend their retirement years. Carroll and Myra celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in June 2024.

While living in the Delta, Carroll and Myra were members of the Charleston Church of Christ. After returning to Jonesboro in 2013, they attended the Greensboro Road Church of Christ.

Carroll was a gifted talker who could carry on a conversation with anyone about anything, especially if the subject was Ford pickup trucks and John Deere tractors. He will be remembered as a funny and loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend.

He was preceded in death by his father, Ray Morris, mother, Snowdie Belle (Biggers) Morris, and a beloved grandson, William “Will” Doerhoff. He is survived by his wife Myra (Kendrick) Morris of Jonesboro, sister Doris Morris (Rodger) Callahan of Clarksville, AR, son Ken (Dorothy) Morris of Golden, CO, daughter Shannon (Scott) Doerhoff of Little Rock, AR, daughter Tracy Morris of Jonesboro, and daughter Jennefer (James) Lough of Savannah, GA; and seven grandchildren: Calvin and Luci Morris, Nicholas Doerhoff, Henry Campbell, and Simon, JJ, and Sage Lough, along with dearly loved members of his extended family.

Funeral services will be Friday, January 24th at 2pm at Emerson Funeral Home in Jonesboro. Burial will be private for immediate family only. The extended family are invited to the home for visitation and refreshments following the service at Emerson Funeral Home.
