Carrol Holloway Sr.

David Carrol Holloway, Sr., 92, of Jonesboro, AR, passed away from this life to his eternal life in heaven, Friday, June 21, 2019, at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro. He was born Nov. 14, 1926 to Jacob E. and Alma Holloway in Formosa, AR.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 71 years, Gloretta Reese Holloway, his parents, his sister and brother-in-law (Jeannette and B.H. Woods of Mt. Vernon, MO.) and his daughter-in-law (Karen Owens Holloway of Nashville, TN.)

He is survived by his children: Pam Little (Joe) of Jonesboro; Charlotte Moncrief (John) of Jonesboro, Jan Smythe (Walter) of Texarkana, TX. and David Holloway (Cindy) of Nashville, TN. and his 11 grand-children and 19 great-grand-children and four great-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by one brother, Delane Holloway, of Cherokee Village.

Carrol and Gloretta lived in Jonesboro for more than 50 years. He had multiple careers, including working for Metropolitan Life Insurance Co. and then later started Holloway’s Carpet Care.

He was a member of Central Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon and Sunday School teacher for more than 50 years. He was a proud veteran of the United States Navy where he served during World War II on the U.S.S. Adirondack.

The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, June 25 at Emerson Memorial Chapel with Larry Bailey officiating. The family will observe a private burial.

Visitation will be from 1:00-2:00 p.m. prior to the service.
