Carrie Isabel Kerley, 88, of Jonesboro, Arkansas, died Saturday at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro.
Born in Bakersfield, Missouri, Mrs. Kerley lived much of her life in the Bakersfield area before moving to Jonesboro 15 years ago. She was an elementary school teacher for several years and taught in Viola, Mammoth Spring and Bakersfield.
Mrs. Kerley was a graduate of Drury College in Springfield and a member of Central Baptist Church in Jonesboro. She was a member of the Arkansas Retired Teachers Association and was preceded in death by her first husband: Eliga Johnson; by her second husband: Clovis Kerley; by a great granddaughter: Abigail Johnson; and by 2 brothers and 2 sisters.
Survivors include:
1 Son and Daughter-in-law: J.R. and Tronnia Johnson of Jonesboro;
2 Grandsons and their wives: Robbie and Stacey Johnson of Jonesboro, and
Kyle and Caron Johnson of Nashville, Tennessee;
A graveside funeral service will be held Sunday afternoon, October 14, 2007, at 2:30 in County Line Cemetery north of Viola with Rev. Mike Martin officiating, with Emerson Funeral Home of Jonesboro in charge of arrangements.
There will be no visitation.
